The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) helps people with disabilities find and keep jobs. If you have a disability and want to work, DVR can support you with things like:
Career planning – helping you figure out what kind of job fits your interests and abilities
Job training – so you can learn new skills
Help with job applications and interviews – including building a resume
Support at your job – like job coaching or making sure your workplace has the tools or changes you might need to succeed
DVR works with youth and adults and makes a plan with you based on your goals. It's a free service for people with disabilities who want to work.
DVR can also support students with disabilities while they’re still in high school. This is called Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS). It helps students get ready for life after school—especially for work or college. DVR can help with:
Learning about different jobs
Exploring college or training options
Practicing job skills
Getting work experience while still in school
Building confidence and independence
DVR works with schools, families, and students to start planning early—often by age 16 or even earlier. That way, when students leave high school, they already have a plan and support to move into work, training, or college.
DVR can also help people with disabilities go to college or other training programs if it's part of their plan to get a job. If someone needs a degree, certificate, or specific training to reach their career goal, DVR may help pay for:
College or vocational school tuition
Books and supplies
Transportation or assistive technology
Support services like notetakers, interpreters, or tutors
DVR won’t choose your career or college for you, but they’ll work with you to make a plan that supports your job goal. If college is part of that plan, they can be an important support to help you succeed and move toward independence.
